Brad Tuininga currently serves as Vice President of Philanthropy with Whatcom Community Foundation. For the past 15 years, he has worked almost exclusively in higher education philanthropy and foundation leadership roles. Most recently he completed 8 ½ years at Skagit Valley College Foundation where he led 3 successive (and successful) capital campaigns. In his time at SVC Foundation he served as Director of Philanthropy and for the last 4 years as the Executive Director. Before SVC Brad also worked in philanthropic roles at Bellingham Technical College Foundation, Whatcom Community College Foundation and North Cascades Institute.

Brad has also served on numerous nonprofit boards and committees over the years. In addition to his board service on the Society for Wilderness Stewardship, he spent 7 years on the AFP Philanthropy NW board of directors where he also chaired the Igniting Philanthropy program series, which was designed for Whatcom and Skagit county professionals. He has been a member of the Northwest Washington Estate Planning Council since 2011 and he also served on the board of directors and Sponsorship Chair from 2019 – 2022. More recently, Brad has been serving on the board for North Cascades Institute since 2021 and he currently serves as the board president.
